March 30, 2007 - Post Script

While I was at lunch, I got another update. Apparently, our friend has had a wild ride the last twelve hours or so. The good news is that he's okay now and everything seems to be fine and back on track again.

The short version of the story is that he went without pain medication for several hours (due to an oversight by the nursing staff), then was given a whole bunch, all at once. This sent his body into shock. His blood pressure was sky high and then this morning it was dangerously low.

He's been admitted back into the ICU and will remain there until Monday.

I haven't talked to him myself, but I hear he's completely coherent and even joking a bit.

I received word last night that our heroic protagonist has made it out of the ICU. I also heard that the pathology report came back clear for the lymph nodes, but there was still something questionable with regard to the stomach muscle. It will be reviewed with the tumor board in a couple of weeks. Other than that, I hear he's in good spirits and is anticipating being fed today via the feeding tube.
